Governor's Camp Wilpattu
A charming, nature-immersed eco-retreat on the banks of Raalmadu Oya
Eco-Living on the Forest Edge of Wilpattu
Governor’s Camp Wilpattu is a charming, mid-range eco-retreat situated in Raalmaduwa, directly bordering the Eluwankulama western entrance of Sri Lanka’s oldest and largest national park. Bordered by the serene, flowing waters of the Raalmadu Oya river, our retreat delivers an authentic dry-zone wilderness experience where natural tranquility meets warm Sri Lankan hospitality.
Entering Wilpattu via the Eluwankulama gate provides swift, queue-free access to the park’s iconic natural villus (sand-rimmed rainwater basins), dense monsoon scrub forests, and coastal estuaries where wild Ceylon leopards (Panthera pardus kotiya), sloth bears, Asian elephants, and spotted deer roam freely.
Between game drives, cool off in our outdoor swimming pool surrounded by tropical trees, borrow our complimentary mountain bicycles for a ride through rural village paths, try your hand at the air rifle shooting range, or paddle down the river in a kayak. Evenings come alive with crackling campfires, custom barbecues, and wholesome home-cooked local and Asian meals.
